Wall Framing & Insulation- Thornhill

This project involved wall framing and batt insulation for the ground floor of a home, with fiberglass insulation fitted into every stud cavity to prep the space for drywall. Our CanRenovation crew handled both stages in one visit — CanRenovation uses the same approach for basement walls too.

Wall Framing & Insulation- Thornhill
This project involved wall framing and batt insulation for the ground floor of a home being prepped for drywall. Once the stud walls were framed out square and level — including the ceiling framing in this space — the next step was filling every cavity with properly fitted insulation. Fiberglass insulation batts were cut and fitted snugly into each stud bay, making full contact on all sides to hit their rated R-value. Getting this right matters more than people expect — any gaps or compressed sections in the batts create cold spots and reduce the overall effectiveness of the insulation, even if it looks fine at a glance. The team worked section by section, trimming batts around the window opening and along the ceiling line to keep the coverage consistent throughout the room. Framing comes first for a reason: the stud cavities need to be properly spaced and squared before insulation goes in, since inconsistent framing makes it much harder to get a clean, gap-free fit. On this job, the walls and ceiling were both framed and insulated as part of the same visit, leaving the room ready for a vapor barrier and drywall in the next stage. This combination of solid framing and properly installed batt insulation is one of the most common — and most important — steps in any renovation that involves opening up a wall. It's also not limited to above-grade spaces; CanRenovation uses the same framing and insulation approach for basement walls, where a good fit between the studs matters just as much for comfort and moisture control. If you're planning a renovation that involves wall framing or insulation, whether it's a ground floor space or a basement, CanRenovation can handle the job from start to finish across Toronto and the GTA.
