Vinyl Plank Floor Repair Project in North York
This North York condo project involved repairing a section of vinyl plank flooring that had started separating at the seams. Visible gaps had developed between several planks, creating an uneven appearance in an area where new baseboards were also being installed.
CanRenovation inspected the affected flooring to identify which planks needed to be repositioned and where the joints required attention before the gaps could be closed.
Inspecting the Separated Vinyl Planks
The affected section was checked for loose joints, visible gaps, and alignment differences between the neighboring planks. The surrounding flooring was also reviewed so the repair could be completed without disturbing sections that were still sitting correctly.
The project focused on the separated planks rather than replacing the entire floor.
Cleaning and Repositioning the Flooring
The open joints were cleaned before the affected vinyl planks were carefully repositioned. A tapping block was used to help close the gaps while reducing the risk of damaging the plank edges.
Where additional support was needed, the affected sections were secured so the repaired joints would remain properly positioned after the planks were brought back together.
Finishing the Floor Edge with New Baseboards
New baseboards were installed as part of the same visit, creating a finished transition between the repaired flooring and the wall.
The baseboards also concealed the normal perimeter expansion space at the edge of the vinyl plank flooring, leaving the room with a cleaner and more complete appearance.
The Finished North York Vinyl Floor Repair
The completed repair reduced the visible gaps between the affected vinyl planks and restored a more consistent surface across the repaired section.
This North York vinyl plank floor repair project combined targeted flooring adjustment with new baseboard installation, allowing both issues to be completed during the same visit.
