Two Storm Door Installation Project in Scarborough
This Scarborough project involved installing two storm doors at the same home. Both existing openings required adjustments before the new doors could be fitted correctly, making the work more involved than a standard storm door installation.
CanRenovation assessed each opening separately so the necessary carpentry adjustments could be completed before the doors and their hardware were installed.
Assessing Both Existing Door Openings
The two openings had different sizing issues. One opening was too small for the new storm door, while the second had a height mismatch that left additional space around the planned installation area.
Each opening was measured and reviewed before the required modifications were made so the doors could be positioned more accurately within the existing entryways.
Adjusting the Openings for the New Storm Doors
The smaller opening was carefully enlarged to create enough space for the first storm door to fit properly.
For the second opening, a custom-cut wood infill piece was installed to address the height difference. The added section was secured in place and painted to match the surrounding door trim for a more consistent finished appearance.
Installing the Storm Doors and Door Closers
Once the opening adjustments were complete, both storm doors were installed and aligned within their respective entryways.
Door closers were also fitted to both installations and adjusted so the doors could close in a controlled manner. The finished assemblies were checked for alignment and normal opening and closing operation.
The Finished Scarborough Storm Door Project
The completed project included two storm door installations, carpentry adjustments to both openings, a custom wood infill section, matching trim paint, and door closer installation.
This Scarborough storm door installation project shows how existing opening dimensions can affect a replacement or new door installation and why additional carpentry work may be required to achieve a proper fit.
