Fire-Rated Door Installation Project in Vaughan
This Vaughan project involved installing a fire-rated steel door and frame in an existing masonry opening. The work focused on preparing the opening, fitting and aligning the new frame, sealing the perimeter, and installing the required door hardware.

Preparing the Existing Masonry Opening
The existing opening was prepared before the new frame was installed. The surrounding surfaces were checked so the frame could be positioned square, plumb, and properly supported within the masonry opening.
Careful preparation at this stage helped create a stable base for the door and reduced the need for unnecessary adjustment once the frame was secured.
Installing and Aligning the Steel Door Frame
The steel frame was positioned in the opening and adjusted until the alignment was consistent from top to bottom. It was then secured so the door could hang correctly and operate without binding against the frame.
The door was checked during installation to confirm that the clearances remained even and that the panel could open, close, and latch properly.
Perimeter Sealing and Door Hardware
Once the frame was secured, the perimeter gap between the frame and surrounding masonry was sealed using fire-rated material appropriate for the installation.
The door hardware was then fitted, including preparation for the handle and latch components. The hardware position was checked so the door could close and latch cleanly within the installed frame.
