Option 2: Cost-Effective Temporary Hardwood Repair The alternative was to repair and resecure the separated engineered hardwood layers without modifying the existing perimeter expansion gap. We clearly explained that this option would restore the appearance and usability of the affected flooring but would not eliminate the underlying cause of the problem. Because the homeowner was already planning to replace the entire bedroom flooring in the future, they preferred the faster and more affordable temporary repair.
